Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She's an American-Mexican actress. She sings as well. Her mom raised her in the USA in a place where she endured several racial stereotypes, which left her feeling like an unwanted person. When she was in 9th grade she felt more confident when she was praised by her teachers when she sang at the school's audition. It not only boosted her confidence but also shifted her career ambition. She graduated at the age of 22 with an education from the Julliard School in New York. Her professional career began at the age of 23 in Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and The You've Got Mail film. However her greatest breakthrough came when she starred in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the very first Broadway production of Spamalot winning not just an award called the Tony Award for her performance as well as a lot of critical praise. The following year, she joined the ABC series Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider acceptance for the role. An accomplished singer, she's also produced one single and an extended work. In addition, she has been a vocal advocate for LGBT issues.
